Ashton Canal towpath

The Canal & River Trust (CRT) have a continual programme of upgrading canal towpaths around the country. They had used Flexipave on similar projects in the Midlands, and they needed to overcome the problem of waterlogged paths which was restricting public use on this site.

Comments from Rob Jowitt of the CRT:

“From a practical aspect, being able to lay Flexipave surfacing by hand meant it was suitable for use directly behind heritage coping stones and it could be carefully laid around the natural shapes of the stones. This avoided the need to overlay any surfacing material on top of the coping stones, allowing for a neat and tidy finish to the towpath.”

Total area size – 1750m2 x Flexipave at 35mm depth, Stone Age Bronze colour.

Completed 2016
