Mackworth Village Car Parking Area, Derby.

A popular local shopping area, just outside Derby, but with no space for car parking.

This was causing problems for local residents and passers-by and was becoming dangerous for pedestrians as cars were forced to park on overcrowded pavements.

Derby City Council Highways Department designed a new car park on common land on the opposite side of the road and installed a pedestrian crossing to solve the problem.

They wanted a hard-wearing porous surface for the parking area, as there were some old trees with protection orders on them, so they chose FlexiStone from KBI UK.

Total area installed approx 350m2.

Completed in 2016.
