HS2 bridleway installation for Morgan Sindall

In late 2019 KBI UK Ltd completed bridleway regeneration works as part of the UK government’s High Speed 2 (HS2) project. Just under 2,500m2 of KBI Flexipave HD2000 was installed for Morgan Sindall, who are delivering works on behalf of Network Rail.

The four-week project utilised over 7,000 recycled vehicle tyres within the Flexipave material, which has previously been praised by the British Horse Society for use on bridleways. In addition to equestrian users, the route is also popular with walkers and cyclists.

KBI’s area sales manager Peter Beavon oversaw the project, and commented on the project’s green footprint.

“There has been much debate over the HS2 project, but one thing that can’t be debated is the positive impact of using the recycled materials within the new surface. The 7,000 plus tyres that were used in the Flexipave would otherwise have gone to landfill or been burned, which would have had a major environmental impact.”
